Final Year Project

Project Title

Software Defined Networks: Traffic Engineering through Segment Routing in SDN

Description

The internet is growing enormously but the networking domain has not seen a major update in the last two decades or so. However, over the last few years, major endeavors have been made in making a shift towards so called Software Defined Networks (SDNs). SDNs are expected to help centralize, standardize and simplify the Network administration and control. In this capstone design project we study and emulate Software Defined Networks environment for some industry defined scenarios. One of the primary targets set by our industrial partners was to develop a framework to facilitate resolving compatibility issues between the SDN compliant part and the legacy network. We can now control the traffic in our Core of the Network and control the path of Internet/data traffic, which was not possible earlier. The project also makes contribution to some design aspects which may help automate the routine administrative actions in a network.
